Today in the Garden of a Lifetime: Berries of Striped Lily-of-the-Valley

By now, the sensational variegated leaves of the lily-of-the-valley have matured to brown.  It's just dumb luck that I hadn't weeded out more of the Ranunculus repens 'Buttered Popcorn', which is so vigorous and with such slender and far-reaching shoots that it would overwhelm the lily-of-the-valley if not yanked out, and yanked again.

Next season, I'll yank just a bit less, in hopes that more of the fruiting stems of Convallaria majalis "Yellow Striped" can be highlighted against the bright ranunculus foliage.

Here's how to grow this classy lily-of-the-valley.
